The changing security situation in Europe is also making itself felt in the industry - especially among German SMEs. BVS Systemtechnik GmbH, an established specialist in sheet metal processing, is experiencing a noticeable increase in interest from the defense industry.

Following an initial order for training control stations for military training ships around a year ago, BVS Blechtechnik has now received a much larger follow-up order to equip control stations for ships and submarines. "In general, we have noticed that the market offers a lot of potential," says Managing Director Harald Steiner. "The demand situation is changing significantly." As a traditional industrial company, the company has had little to do with the military. However, the reality of security policy is placing new demands - on industry too. "Germany is facing an increased need for defense capability," says Steiner. "We are convinced that medium-sized industrial companies have a key role to play right now." This is precisely where their particular strengths lie: tailor-made solutions, close customer communication and the ability to develop products quickly and flexibly. For a company like BVS, which has been developing customer-specific sheet metal parts and assemblies for decades, this proximity to the customer is a reality - in industry as well as in the defense sector.

Qualified for the aerospace and defense industry

Certified quality is an important success factor: BVS Systemtechnik has DIN EN 9100 certification for the aerospace and defense industry - a decisive criterion for security-related orders. "Our reputation as a competent company with a great deal of practical experience practically won us the contract for the control stations," explains Managing Director Christian Tochtenhagen. The level of interest from the defense sector was so high that BVS did not have to actively seek out the orders. Instead, the company is specifically looking for medium-sized partners who can act quickly, flexibly and with a focus on quality. "As a medium-sized company, we are used to working closely with the customer, delivering quickly, thinking individually and solving problems proactively," continues Tochtenhagen. "This is precisely the expertise that a growing defense industry needs. It could be companies like BVS that become the new backbone of a modernized defence industry - not through mass production, but through intelligent, modular, high-quality supplies. From precision-manufactured control panels and load-bearing metal structures to assemblies for UAVs, drone systems or modular deployment units, the company offers a broad portfolio that can also be transferred to security-relevant fields of application.

BVS Systemtechnik well positioned

BVS Systemtechnik GmbH considers itself well equipped for the demands of the new era - with modern production, many years of experience and a team that takes responsibility seriously. Investment in technology, personnel and quality remain central cornerstones of the company's business activities - today more than ever. "As a traditional industrial company, it's not about wanting to actively participate in the armored weapons business now," says Steiner. "But I think that we all want to feel secure, especially in Central Europe, and defense capability plays a decisive role here, whether we like it or not. I think I speak for many medium-sized companies of our kind here."
