SLV offer material testing of metal products

Materials testing of metallic products is a key discipline for maximum safety. The Welding Technology Training and Testing Institutes (SLV) offer materials testing and testing activities in 125 test methods, including manual and mechanized non-destructive testing methods.
Materials testing and inspection activities are of immeasurable importance in metalworking professions. These procedures not only guarantee the safety and reliability of metallic products, but also promote innovation in materials science. By using state-of-the-art testing techniques, the properties of metals can be precisely analyzed to determine their suitability for specific applications. The Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH (GSI) plays a leading role in materials testing and inspection activities with its Welding Training and Research Institutes (SLV's). Accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for over 25 years, GSI is a prime example of competence and quality in materials testing at the highest level. The demands placed on accredited testing laboratories in materials testing and relevant testing activities have steadily increased in recent decades, particularly with regard to the metrological traceability of test equipment. The SLV has responded to these challenges by investing in the modernization of its capacities and extensive restructuring. The centralization of structures, regulations and processes was at the forefront of this. This development enables SLV to act as a harmonized testing laboratory that can respond more intensively to the needs of its customers. The use of synergies between SLV's six locations improves the regional availability of expertise and services in the field of materials testing and inspection activities.
SLV's scope of accreditation covers 125 test methods for materials testing and inspection activities, including manual and mechanized non-destructive testing methods such as radiographic, ultrasonic, penetrant, magnetic particle and visual testing. These test methods are essential for verifying the quality and properties of materials without damaging them. The spectrum also includes mechanical-technological tests, emission spectrometric analyses, electron beam micro-range analysis using scanning electron microscopy, corrosion tests, surface technology tests and metallographic examinations. These comprehensive test methods enable an in-depth analysis and evaluation of metallic materials and their alloys and welded joints. The SLVs show how crucial materials testing and testing activities are for competitiveness and customer orientation in metal processing. Constant dialog with customers and adaptation to their needs are at the heart of SLV's efforts to offer innovative solutions and services, especially in connection with materials testing and inspection activities.
