Since March 2023, the ISO/IEC 17065 accredited certification body of the IFO Institute for Surface Technology has extended its accreditation with additional voluntary certification programs. From now on, the institute offers neutral and independent certifications for coating companies in the field of liquid coatings.

The certification follows the rules of DIN EN ISO 12944 and is available to all companies that coat steel with liquid paint. DIN EN ISO 12944 deals with the protection of steels by coating systems and takes into account all essential aspects that are important for adequate corrosion protection. The certification reinforces confidence in the work of coating companies and their coatings. It confirms that production processes meet the requirements of relevant rules and standards.

Coating companies thus also have the opportunity to stand out from their competitors and it is a contribution to making products and their processes safer. "By expanding our portfolio to include voluntary certifications in the area of liquid coatings, we want to support companies that want to offer high quality in coating and corrosion protection," says Ute Brunner Bäurle, head of the certification body at IFO Institut für Oberflächentechnik GmbH. "We are one of the first bodies in Europe to offer this voluntary certification option. With this neutral and independent certification, companies have the opportunity to strengthen the confidence of their customers and increase their competitiveness."
