Often small and inconspicuous, burrs nevertheless have considerable damage potential. The remnants from production lead time and again from avoidable quality losses to product recalls. In addition, in many industrial sectors there are higher demands on the freedom from burrs, cleanliness and the surface finish of components. To be on the safe side here, solutions adapted to the task at hand are indispensable. As the most important international information and procurement platform, DeburringExpo presents the corresponding solutions. The bilingual specialist forum integrated into the leading trade fair for deburring technologies and precision surfaces, as well as various theme parks, ensure an additional, valuable transfer of knowledge.
Burrs cause damage
Here a battery goes up in flames, there customer complaints arise due to poor part quality or a leaking component leads to recourse claims - the examples of damage caused by burrs are manifold and in any case always expensive as well as an image problem. Despite this enormous importance for product quality, function and safety, deburring is an often underestimated process step in manufacturing. This is despite the fact that in growth-oriented industrial sectors, such as components for battery and fuel cell-based electromobility, hydraulics, sensor and analysis technology, the semiconductor supply industry, medical and pharmaceutical technology, electronics, and plant and mechanical engineering, the requirements for burr-free, clean, and surface-finished components continue to increase. At the same time, disruptive developments are challenging parts manufacturers to gain a foothold in new market segments. However, this can only succeed by further developing and adapting existing competencies and processes. Deburring, edge rounding, cleaning and the production of precision surfaces definitely play a decisive role here. In order to position themselves competitively for the future, numerous companies are looking for appropriate partners and solutions.
A trade fair for all industries, materials and tasks
DeburringExpo, organized by the private trade fair organizer fairXperts GmbH & Co KG, provides an internationally unique communication and procurement platform for this purpose. It covers the entire spectrum of technologies, processes, tools and services for deburring, cleaning and surface finishing across industries and materials. "The comprehensive range of products and services makes DeburringExpo the ideal marketplace for users to specifically search for a solution-oriented partner for changing and new tasks in deburring and the production of precision surfaces," explains Gitta Steinmann, project manager at fairXperts. "At the 2021 trade fair, 44 percent of visitors had come to prepare or finalize investment decisions." Due to the great importance of DeburringEXPO for the operational procurement process, it is also no wonder that all market- and technology-leading companies have already firmly booked a booth space for the upcoming event from October 10 to 12, 2023, at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Center. "Demand for stand space from companies in Germany and abroad has picked up significantly since the end of February," adds Gitta Steinmann. Among them are companies and startups that are presenting processes developed jointly with research institutes and universities to the public.
Competition-relevant topics in the framework program
The supporting program of this year's DeburringExpo also presents itself perfectly adapted to the increasing demands on quality, reproducibility and efficiency in production as well as to changing manufacturing technologies. The "Automated Deburring" theme park, for example, shows ways in which the polishing, grinding and deburring of components can be automated with robots. Automation is also a solution to the shortage of skilled workers. Whether before or after deburring, technical cleanliness in line with requirements is an essential prerequisite for the quality of subsequent machining processes and thus for high-quality components. Corresponding methods and processes are presented in the "Cleaning after deburring" theme park. Specifications for deburring, edge rounding and surface finishing are increasingly being defined in concrete terms, for example rounding in the micrometer range or clear specifications of roughness values. In order to exclude possible defects, quality control integrated into the processes or subsequent quality control is required. An overview of the different measuring methods and their strengths and limitations is provided by the "Quality Assurance in the Deburring Process" theme park.
Knowledge transfer as added value
An established addition to the exhibition program is the integrated, three-day DeburringExpo technical forum. The presentations, which will be translated simultaneously (German <> English), will focus on solutions for specific applications as well as current developments and trends and future strategies.
