Release agents
In surface technology, release agents are substances that are applied to surfaces to prevent unwanted adhesion or adhesion of other materials during a manufacturing process. They are used to facilitate the clean separation of materials and prevent damage to surfaces. These substances are used in various industries, including plastics processing, metal processing, rubber manufacturing, the foundry industry and composite manufacturing.
In plastics processing, release agents are used to prevent molten plastics from sticking to the molds or tools. This is particularly important in injection molding and extrusion processes where plastics need to be molded into specific shapes.
In metal processing, release agents are used to prevent metals from sticking to casting molds, pressing tools or cutting tools. They make it easier to remove metal parts from the molds and help to prevent damage to the surfaces. In rubber production, release agents are used to reduce the adhesion of rubber to molds or presses and make it easier to demold rubber products.
In the foundry industry, release agents are used to prevent molten metals from sticking to molds or core boxes and to improve the quality of castings. In composite manufacturing, release agents are used to reduce the adhesion of resins to molds or release films and allow easier demolding of composites.
Choosing the right release agent depends on several factors, including the type of materials, the surfaces to be released and the specific requirements of the manufacturing process. An effective release agent should have a good release effect, be easy to apply and leave no residue on the surfaces.
