Machinery Directive
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, in conjunction with the specifications of CEN/TC271, sets out the safety requirements for surface treatment equipment. This directive aims to create a harmonized legal framework within the European Union to ensure that such machines meet the highest safety standards.
According to this standard, manufacturers of surface treatment equipment must ensure that their products are designed and manufactured to meet the relevant safety requirements. One focus is on the protection of operators and other persons who may be in the vicinity of the machine.
The Machinery Directive and the CEN/TC271 specifications require the integration of appropriate safety measures and protective devices to minimize potential risks. This includes consideration of aspects such as the prevention of injuries, accidents or damage to health during operation or maintenance of the equipment.
The implementation of this directive is crucial for manufacturers to ensure that their surface treatment equipment complies with European safety standards. This not only ensures the safety of users, but also helps to promote a free and safe internal market for machinery in the European Union.
