Borax
Borax, also known as sodium borate, is a chemical compound that has many applications in surface technology. Due to its properties, borax is often used as a cleaning agent and disinfectant. It can remove stubborn stains and dirt from surfaces and is therefore used in household, industrial and commercial cleaning products.
In addition, borax is also used as a flame retardant, especially in certain coatings and materials, to reduce flammability and increase fire safety. This property makes borax a valuable additive in various industries, such as the construction industry and the manufacture of textiles and plastics.
In metalworking, borax is often used as a flux to clean and protect surfaces during the soldering or welding process. It helps to remove oxide layers and prevent the formation of new oxides, resulting in improved adhesion and quality of the joint.
Overall, borax is a versatile material in surface technology that is widely used in various applications due to its cleaning, flame retardant, fluxing and melting properties.
