Aluminizing

Aluminizing is a surface technology process in which aluminium is applied to a substrate in order to improve its properties. This process is used in various industries, particularly in the manufacture of metallic components to make them more resistant to corrosion, oxidation and other environmental influences.

Aluminization is carried out using various methods, including diffusion aluminization and coating processes. In diffusion aluminizing, the substrate is brought into contact with aluminum, and heat treatment diffuses the aluminum into the material, creating a permanent bond. This leads to improved hardness and corrosion resistance of the substrate. In the coating process, aluminum is applied to the surface in the form of powder or as a coating. This can be done using various methods such as thermal spraying, vacuum evaporation or electroplating. The applied aluminum layer forms a protective barrier that protects the underlying material from harmful influences.

Aluminization is often used in the aerospace industry, in the manufacture of turbine blades, in the chemical industry and in high-temperature applications. The improved resistance to extreme conditions makes aluminized surfaces particularly suitable for extending the service life and performance of components.
