Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is “The University within the Helmholtz Association.” As the only German university of excellence with large-scale national research programs, we offer our students, researchers, and staff unique learning, teaching, and working conditions. The roots of this university institution date back to 1825. KIT took on its current form when the University of Karlsruhe (TH) and the Karlsruhe Research Center merged in 2009.
Today, KIT employs approximately 10,000 staff members, more than half of whom are engaged in research across a broad disciplinary spectrum in the natural sciences, engineering, economics, humanities, and social sciences. This makes KIT one of the largest scientific institutions in Europe. In addition to excellent teaching and cutting-edge research, we consider innovation to be one of our core missions. In this way, we not only create and disseminate knowledge for society and the environment, but also develop applications for the economy based on this knowledge. Our goal is to contribute to addressing the global challenges facing humanity through groundbreaking research in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. Maintaining constant contact and dialogue with society is of great importance to us in this endeavor.
