On March 19, 2026, the ZVO was a guest in the German Bundestag together with representatives of the Industrial Coaters and Chemical and Plant Divisions for political discussions on surface technology topics.

In the Paul Löbe House, Dr. Klaus Wiener and Nora Seitz from the CDU/CSU parliamentary group received the delegation from the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO) for an intensive exchange on the current challenges facing Germany as an industrial location. The discussion focused on key issues of industrial, economic and energy policy as well as labor and social policy framework conditions. The participating entrepreneurs took the opportunity to share their specific practical experiences and directly describe the effects of current political decisions. The MPs took the time to address the concerns of the industry and answered the participants' questions. The dialog was characterized by openness and a shared understanding that the industry is facing far-reaching structural challenges. A key outcome of the discussion: The need for political action has been recognized. Issues such as high energy prices, increasing regulatory burdens and rising labor costs are on the political agenda. At the same time, it became clear that the implementation of necessary reforms will take time - a challenge for many companies that are already under considerable competitive pressure.

ZVO actively shapes dialog with political decision-makers

The speed of political processes is a decisive factor, especially for medium-sized industries such as surface technology. Delays in relief measures can have a direct impact on investment decisions and location issues. All participants agreed on one central point: the already ongoing deindustrialization in Germany and Europe must be stopped. This requires decisive political action, reliable framework conditions and a clear industrial policy strategy. The path to achieving this will be challenging. It will require difficult decisions and close coordination between politics and business. At the same time, it became clear during the discussion that the necessary conditions are in place to successfully shape this process - provided the right course is set. The ZVO will continue to actively shape the dialog with political decision-makers and contribute the perspectives of its member companies to the political processes. As the voice of surface technology, the association is committed to ensuring that the importance of the industry as a key technology for numerous industrial value chains is given greater consideration. The exchange in the Bundestag has shown once again: Viable solutions for the future of the industrial location can only be developed in close cooperation between politics and industry.
