Weicon has completely redesigned its screw-locking coatings and replaced its previous solvent-based products with water-based versions. The new locking coatings are VOC- and HAP-free, do not require labeling, and are not classified as hazardous substances.

Employee safety plays a crucial role in the industry. Products and raw materials must comply with strict guidelines and meet medical requirements. Employees who come into contact with these substances must be protected so they can perform their duties without restriction. For this reason, Weicon, a manufacturer of specialty chemical products, has decided to completely overhaul its existing threadlocker coatings and switch from a solvent-based formulation to a water-based one. The new threadlocker coatings differ significantly from previous products. The locking varnishes are free of organic solvents (VOC-free and HAP-free). They do not require labeling and are not classified as hazardous substances, which significantly minimizes risks during use.

Water-based locking varnishes with high durability

The locking varnishes adhere very well to nearly all materials, offer good resistance to various media, and are UV- and weather-resistant. The marking varnishes are non-conductive and have good breaking properties. For an aqueous system, the thread-locking varnishes have a high drying rate—they are dust-dry after approximately ten minutes and fully cured after twelve hours. The coatings have a temperature resistance range of -80 °C to +120 °C. The sealing coatings serve to protect against tampering, to cover electrically conductive parts, and to protect against corrosion and interference from contact. Screw-locking varnishes are indispensable for the visual inspection of all types of screw connections; they protect against tampering and unauthorized loosening of screws and connections, and document quality assurance, production control, and product testing through a varnish seal. Screw-locking coatings can be used in many areas of industry and trade.
