Wacker has once again received the Gold Medal from the external rating agency EcoVadis for the year 2025. It recognizes sustainable action and responsible corporate governance.

This puts the chemical company Wacker in the top 5 percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis (more than 1000). Compared to the previous year, Wacker was able to improve its score from 77 (2024) to 79 points. The main reasons for this were higher scores due to more comprehensive reporting and the implementation of measures, particularly in relation to Scope 3 emissions and ethics. "The result confirms our initiatives in many important areas. It is also valuable evidence for our customers," says Peter Gigler, Head of Corporate ESG.

Wacker with ambitious sustainability goals

The EcoVadis score (0 - 100) reflects the quality of a company's sustainability management system at the time of the assessment. The methodology is based on international sustainability standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. A scorecard is used to evaluate sustainability performance based on 21 indicators and the four areas of environment, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Wacker shares the EcoVadis questionnaire with its customers and thus offers them standardized and recognized proof of its own sustainability measures. Wacker has set itself ambitious sustainability targets. The aim is to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2020). Currently, 30% of absolute greenhouse gas emissions have already been reduced (as of 2024). By 2045, the chemical company wants to achieve net zero, i.e. no net CO2 emissions at all.
