Von Ardenne puts new coating machine into operation in the clean room

Von Adrenne commissions its new coating machine, the Opta X300, in its recently opened clean room in Germany. This enables the production of high-precision coatings and multilayer stacks for semiconductor and optical applications.
Von Ardenne, provider of precision coating systems and co-developed material solutions, is commissioning its new Opta X300 coater in its recently opened ISO 5 class cleanroom in Dresden, Germany. "As the semiconductor industry continues to push the boundaries of performance and miniaturization, Von Ardenne is entering the U.S. market with next-generation equipment platforms, co-developed material solutions, and customized refurbishment and upgrade services," said Guido Ueberreiter, vice president of semiconductor strategy at Von Ardenne, at the product launch at Semicon West last September. "Our approach enables semiconductor manufacturers to overcome complex deposition and vacuum challenges, especially where older equipment is reaching its limits or standard solutions cannot meet new requirements. Our Opta X300 platform is specifically designed for high-precision double-sided deposition to support even the most demanding multilayer applications."
New coating system in the Von Ardenne cleanroom
Von Ardenne launched its Opta X300 rotary coating system in 2025. It is the company's flagship platform for sub-nanometer precision deposition on demanding substrates. The Opta X300 platform will be installed in Von Ardenne's new ISO 5 cleanroom in Dresden, which serves as the cornerstone of the company's technology and application center. This facility enables customers to test, sample and co-develop coating processes, drawing on industry-leading engineering and materials science expertise. The new cleanroom in Dresden includes 200 m² of ISO 5 (Class 100) assembly and test areas with molecular airborne contamination control (AMC) and 400 m² of ISO 7 manufacturing space. The cleanroom is designed for semiconductor, optical and aerospace applications and is prepared for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology. The Opta X300 will be available for customer demonstrations and joint development projects from mid-2026.
