SurFunction will be presenting a fully integrated DLIP production line in live operation for the first time at Blechexpo 2025. This will achieve complete industrialization and significantly increase efficiency.

SurFunction GmbH, innovation leader in the field of laser-based surface functionalization based on nature, will be presenting a fully integrated, operational production line based on the proven Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) technology for the first time at Blechexpo 2025 - including upstream and downstream stations in real operation. This major step demonstrates that the technology is fully industrialized and ready for series production. While the "E 960 C1" system module was the first to demonstrate the suitability of DLIP technology for industrial applications, SurFunction is now showing a fully networked production line in live operation that maps all process steps - from material feed and DLIP functionalization to further processing in real operation. Together with Noxon Automation, the experienced partner for winding, unwinding and feeding systems, the system module has been further improved and expanded into a fully-fledged high-speed production line that achieves belt speeds of up to 20 m/min in practice and can be flexibly integrated into existing production environments. This is possible in both "in-line" and "batch" operation as well as with punched and unpunched strip material - on one or both sides.

Integration of the Elipsys technology platform from SurFunction

The decisive progress currently achieved lies in the complete integration of the Elipsys technology platform from SurFunction. It enables a significant reduction in costs thanks to improved DLIP beam guidance, the use of alternative laser sources, optimized process stability, faster cycle times and increased energy efficiency. In addition, it has been possible to reduce the necessary capital expenditure by more than 50%. Overall, this has significantly increased cost-effectiveness - a key factor for widespread industrial use. The result: opening up new fields of application in the area of electrical connectors, sensor technology and precise functional surfaces for a variety of industrial products and processes. "With the production line now up and running, we are proving that DLIP not only works in the laboratory or in pilot plants, but has now fully arrived in industrial series production," explains Dr. Dominik Britz, co-founder and Managing Director of SurFunction GmbH. "Our technology is production-safe, scalable and economically very attractive - an important milestone on the way to sustainable surface production based on nature's example." Surfunction will be exhibiting at Blechexpo 2025 in Hall 6, Stand 6107.
