Rose Systemtechnik manufactures seawater-resistant enclosures for electronic components on ships. They must protect installations from water, chemicals, salt, grease and UV radiation, even under harsh weather conditions.

Rose manufactures a wide range of seawater-resistant enclosures made of stainless steel and aluminum for water-exposed applications. The products are ideal for shipbuilding, but also for the offshore industry, maritime research and port infrastructure. The enclosures are also used in coastal protection and swimming pools. They meet the high requirements of Lloyd's Register of Shipping and the certification company DNV. Rose's seawater-resistant stainless steel enclosures are made of CrNIMo steel (V4A) and do not require any further surface treatment due to their high corrosion resistance. Seawater-resistant aluminum housings, on the other hand, undergo an immersion bath with chromium(III) oxide, in which a passivation is created. The enclosures are given an oxide layer that separates the metal from the environment and thus prevents corrosion.

Seawater-resistant aluminum enclosures from Rose are available as SWB, SBG and SBGL enclosures. After passivation, SWB enclosures are given a powder coating (polyester), SBG enclosures are given a primer coat (2k thick primer layer) and SBGL versions are given a coating with top coat and hardener. The enclosures are then subjected to a salt spray test in accordance with EN ISO 9227. Rose offers equipment options for its corrosion-resistant enclosures, including seawater-resistant earthing points and high-quality PU foam, neoprene and silicone round cord seals. By installing the seals, the standard protection class of the enclosure solutions can be increased to up to IP69K.

Corrosion protection for defense technology enclosures and explosion protection

The seawater-resistant corrosion protection is also available for Rose's defense technology enclosures and explosion protection versions. Rose Ex enclosures and control stations are ATEX and Ex i certified. If required, further Ex approvals are carried out (IEC Ex/UL-Ex/UKCA Ex/INMETRO/PESO/IA). In addition to surface treatment, Rose also carries out mechanical processing. Options include customer-specific engraving, welding on external brackets, welding on threaded bolts and inserting threaded holes as well as thread cutting.
