At Medical Technology Ireland, Relyon Plasma will be presenting plasma devices that support the manufacture of medical devices. In addition to the PiezoBrush series for classic surface treatment in manufacturing, the MediPlas components for sterilization and disinfection will also be on display.

From September 25-26, 2024, Medical Technology Ireland will take place in Galway - Europe's second largest and fastest growing trade fair for the development and manufacture of medical devices. As a member of the German Pavilion, Relyon Plasma will be presenting PiezoBrush plasma devices for surface treatment and the high-performance ozone generator based on MediPlas components for integration into medical devices on stand 221 on the 2nd floor. For many years now, plasma has played a key role in process and quality optimization in the manufacture of medical devices. Cold atmospheric pressure plasma is used to clean, disinfect, modify and functionalize a wide variety of surfaces. As a result, they are optimally prepared for subsequent process steps such as bonding, coating and printing. Bonding in particular poses a major challenge in medical production, as materials, adhesives or primers have been adapted from the formulation or withdrawn from the market due to a large number of regulations. This means that previously stable bonding processes no longer function optimally. Here, surface treatment with cold atmospheric pressure plasma provides a remedy by optimally preparing the surface to be bonded so that a stable adhesive bond is produced even under less than optimal initial conditions.

The PiezoBrush PZ3 hand-held device is suitable for testing whether cold plasma provides the desired process improvement for a specific application. This is ideal for initial feasibility tests as well as for the production of small batches. The device has various process modes that enable reproducible parameter sets to be determined. The PiezoBrush PZ3-i integration solution then makes it easy to make the leap to automated series production. Simple integration into an existing system means that only minimal adjustments to the manufacturing process and production sequence are required. The use of plasma technologies not only increases the effectiveness of disinfection, but also minimizes the environmental impact as fewer chemical reagents are required. This innovation could therefore represent a significant advance in hygiene and safety standards in sensitive areas such as medicine and pharmacy. Joining Relyon Plasma at the show will be Peter Dobbyn from Advanced Plasma Tech, Relyon Plasma's Irish distributor. "Advanced Plasma Tech is proud to distribute Relyon Plasma's plasma solutions here in Ireland. Our new clean room laboratory and production facilities in Midleton, Co. Cork, enable us to offer our Irish customers a complete solution including process development, engineering and calibration."
