Plansee Seminar 2025: Conference for the powder metallurgy value chain

At the 21st Plansee Seminar 2025, experts in refractory and hard metals from research, education and industry met in Reutte/Tyrol from June 1 to 6. The event is one of the world's largest specialist conferences in this field.
The Plansee Seminar includes scientific contributions covering the entire powder metallurgy value chain of refractory metals, hard materials, hard metals and their surface technology - from ore and powder to end products and their applications. Participants will also be looking at possible alternatives to existing material solutions, future applications and innovative and sustainable processes and technologies. Heinrich Kestler, secretary and organizer of the Plansee Seminar, adds: "This year we are also celebrating a special anniversary: the element rhenium was discovered 100 years ago. We have put together a special themed block to mark the occasion."
530 participants from 30 countries at the Plansee Seminar
The 21st Plansee Seminar welcomes around 530 participants from 30 countries. These include representatives from universities, research institutes, industrial companies and powder metallurgy associations, as well as students. This year, the organizers are holding a "Students' Dinner" for the first time in order to offer young people from scientific and technical degree courses their own platform for exchange and networking. Karlheinz Wex, CEO of the Plansee Group, emphasizes the importance of scientific exchange at conferences such as the Plansee Seminar: "It was the intention of founder Paul Schwarzkopf to increase knowledge through sharing. Innovation and cooperation in development are crucial to the further development of our industry, a basic prerequisite for success in the market. It is not enough to just provide materials and products. Customers need solutions to their problems."

Since 1952, the Plansee Seminar has been held every four years at the Plansee Group's headquarters in Reutte, Tyrol, Austria. It was initiated by company founder Paul Schwarzkopf and is considered one of the most important conferences in the industry.
