The new trainees in the 2025 intake at paint manufacturer Peters praise the high level of practical relevance in their training. They therefore made a conscious decision to join the Kempen-based family business, which is known for its high-tech coatings for the electronics industry.

Leon Tarkowski started as an apprentice at the Kempen-based paint manufacturer Peters on August 1, 2025. He says: "It was important to me to do my apprenticeship at a family business." The 18-year-old is completing a three-year apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Peters' company headquarters. Leon felt the difference to a group-run company right from the start of his apprenticeship. "There's a warm atmosphere here," says the St. Hubert native, who was born in Düsseldorf. After two job interviews and a trial period, it was clear to both sides: Leon and Peters are a good match. The youngster deliberately opted for an apprenticeship and left the comprehensive school in Kempen after year 12 to gain professional experience. "I already did mini-jobs as a pupil and simply feel more comfortable in my job than at school," reports Tarkowski. As a budding industrial clerk, he wants to use his time training at Peters to get to know the company from A to Z and gain experience: "It's all very varied here."

The high level of practical relevance in an industrial company also persuaded Sofia Mohr to apply to Peters. Alongside Leon, the 18-year-old is the second apprentice in the 2025 cohort. The young woman from the Issum district of Sevelen in Kleve previously completed her vocational baccalaureate in business and administration at the vocational college in Geldern. As Sofia has a penchant for business administration/accounting, she feels she is in good hands as a future industrial clerk at Peters. Materials management, sales, marketing, human resources and especially finance and accounting are her thing. Sofia is now working diligently towards completing her in-depth training and also tackling the wide range of further training opportunities. A career at Peters - she can well imagine it, but doesn't want to take the second step before the first.
