Short distances, little space required: Vollert solves space problems when expanding capacity with multi-storey systems for surface coating. At PaintExpo 2024, the heavy-duty intralogistics experts will be focusing on multi-storey painting lines and demonstrating that they are also possible with loads of up to 30 tons.

Industrial companies are often confronted with the need to expand capacity in a small area. On the one hand, less floor space is available and, on the other, long transportation routes between production, painting and assembly need to be avoided. Building a new paint shop on a greenfield site, several hundred meters away from the existing production facility, is therefore often not the best option. Instead, Vollert's intralogistics specialists use their expertise to build multi-storey systems on the existing site - even for coating large parts weighing 10, 20 or 30 tons. Their advantage: short distances, no new sealing of areas and direct proximity to production and assembly.

Vollert recently developed a paint shop on two levels for the machine and plant manufacturer KraussMaffei: The workpieces travel at a height of twelve meters, the walk-in painting and working area is located on the second floor and the ground-level space below is used for the internal material flow. Vollert relocates automated areas - such as the drying or buffering of workpieces - to the heights of multi-storey systems, while work involving the movement of people is carried out on the lower levels. Other examples at PaintExpo include two- and three-storey painting lines, including one for the agricultural machinery manufacturer Jacto in Brazil. "Painting lines on several levels are common in the automotive industry. We transfer the space-saving concept to heavy and large loads and show how an existing production area can be compacted," explains Jochen Keinath, Head of Surface Technology Sales at Vollert. The heavy-duty experts draw their know-how from decades of experience in the construction of multi-storey production lines for precast concrete plants or aluminum and steel rolling mills, among other things. Vollert will be presenting these and other solutions at PaintExpo in Karlsruhe from April 9 to 12, 2024 in Hall 3, Stand 3334.
