Markus Vüllers and Matthias Bader came up with the idea of a regular online get-together for painting and coating companies. Inspired by a paint regulars' table, they asked themselves "Why not rethink the tried and tested?"

Inspired by the paint regulars' table "Stammlack" (master varnish), which Markus Vüllers and Matthias Bader regularly attend, the two experts decided to create a similar format for the painting industry. With the approval of the Stammlack organizers, the idea quickly became reality: Spätschicht (Late night shift) was born, the online regulars' table for paint and coating companies.

Spätschicht: Online regulars' table as a platform for exchange and networking

Spätschicht offers an informal platform for discussing current challenges and trends in the coating industry. Everyone involved in coating technology is welcome - whether contract coaters, in-house painters, powder coaters, wet painters, paint and chemical manufacturers, system and equipment manufacturers or vocational school teachers and consultants. Whether you are a small business or a large company, everyone is invited to contribute their knowledge and experience. A few simple rules will ensure that everything runs smoothly: Participation is free of charge. Registration via Zoom is required. Everyone organizes their own snacks and drinks. Camera and microphone should be switched on to enable an active exchange. Advertising for products is not permitted. Each session begins with a short keynote speech, which is then discussed.

A successful start - the first late shift

The first online regulars' table took place on January 15, 2025 and was a complete success: 33 registrations via LinkedIn, 19 registrations on Zoom, and 14 active participants at the premiere. A colorful mix of paint manufacturers, powder coaters, plant manufacturers, in-house coaters, vocational school teachers and consultants were represented. Common topics included: Challenges in personnel management, cost pressure and customer requirements, quality standards and digitalization were lively discussions. The response was consistently positive - a great start for the new format.

Next online regulars' table late shift

The next date for the online regulars' table Spätschicht has already been set: Juli 10th, 2025 at 6 pm. Registration via Teams is also required this time. The event will begin with a short keynote speech to encourage discussion and open up new perspectives. The late shift shows how valuable informal exchange is in painting technology. It creates a bridge between companies, manufacturers and experts and promotes the transfer of knowledge in an industry that is characterized by technological diversity and process complexity. Whether challenges in quality management, new digital technologies or sustainable approaches - the late shift is the right platform to discuss and actively shape the future of painting technology.
