New Young Professionals for the Electroplating Industry

Nine graduates of the Technical School for Electroplating in Schwäbisch Gmünd have successfully completed their training as state-certified technicians. Their outstanding exam results underscore the high level of qualification among the next generation of skilled workers.
On July 10, 2026, at the Technical School for Electroplating in Schwäbisch Gmünd, two female graduates and seven male graduates received their diplomas as state-certified technicians specializing in electroplating. Although this graduating class of nine students is relatively small, it takes on special significance given the ongoing shortage of skilled workers in electroplating and surface technology. In addition, the graduates impressed with their outstanding achievements: A total of five awards and two honorable mentions were presented. Following opening remarks by Department Head Dr. Christa Hannak, the ceremony was presided over by Vice Principal Andrée Kedves. Robert Rohn, a board member of the Galvanicus Support Association, highlighted the excellent career prospects in the industry and emphasized the importance of a strong professional network.
Practical Insights into Electroplating Training
The technical projects by Alexander Baldauf, Michael Ferahyan, and Carlo Gessler provided practical insights. Together, they investigated the tribological characterization of silver dispersion coatings at Dr.-Ing. Max Schlötter GmbH & Co. KG. The results contribute to the optimization of connector contacts for charging cables in electric mobility and can help reduce charging losses. The ceremony was complemented by testimonials from former graduates, a piano performance by Mansour Badawi, and an AI-generated song by the elementary school students. In their speeches, homeroom teacher Volker Rogoll and class president Alexander Baldauf emphasized the importance of electroplating and surface technology for future-oriented topics such as corrosion protection, energy efficiency, and the industrial transformation process. With the presentation of diplomas and awards, the industry now has nine more qualified professionals at its disposal.
