The technologies presented include Covertron 600, the chrome-free and non-PFAS-based pre-treatment system for plastic metallization. Developed as a complete replacement for chromium sulphuric acid pickling, Covertron 600 offers performance and process length comparable to conventional Cr(VI) systems, while supporting more sustainable production. The process is suitable for ABS, ABS/PC, PP and multi-component parts. It meets industry-standard requirements in terms of appearance, adhesion and thermal cycling tests and has been successfully validated in various industries, including automotive and sanitary. Covertron 600 is designed for seamless integration into existing coating lines and is compatible with immersion copper. As a REACH-compliant alternative, chrome-free pre-treatment allows manufacturers to eliminate hexavalent chromium while maintaining existing quality standards.
