Eight months before the start of Ligna 2027, 100,000 square meters of exhibition space have already been booked. Approximately 1,100 exhibitors have registered for the trade show, which will take place in May 2027 in Hanover.

Eight months before the start of Ligna 2027, approximately 100,000 square meters of exhibition space have been booked. As of the end of September 2026, the trade show had attracted about 1,100 exhibitors. By comparison, in 2025 there were 1,425 exhibitors occupying 113,832 square meters at the end of the event. Ligna will take place in Hanover from May 10 to 14, 2027. “The industry is fully represented in Ligna’s core segment; not a single name is missing—quite the contrary, we’ve even gained new companies from related industries,” says Stephanie Wagner, Global Director of Ligna at Deutsche Messe AG. Among other things, the new or expanded formats Ligna.Builds and Ligna.TruckStop are expected to provide new impetus. Ligna.Builds is dedicated to modern industrial timber construction and features a live construction site on the outdoor grounds. Technology and material suppliers from various sectors of wood processing and timber construction are participating. This also brings topics such as industrial processing, finishing, and the protection of wood surfaces, as well as automated manufacturing processes, more into focus.

More Compact Hall Layout for Ligna 2027

Despite the high booking rate, the economic situation in the woodworking industry remains tense, according to the organizers. Larger exhibitors, in particular, have in some cases booked smaller booth spaces. “As a result, the total exhibition space at Ligna 2027 will be slightly smaller than at the previous event, even though the number of exhibitors will remain the same,” explains Wagner. By contrast, the segments related to timber construction have proven to be comparatively robust. “A positive trend is also emerging in prefabricated housing construction,” says Dr. Bernhard Dirr, Managing Director of VDMA Woodworking Machinery. The trade show is responding to the changed space situation with a more compact hall layout. Exhibitors will be grouped more closely according to product offerings and thematic focus areas; Hall 11 will no longer be used in 2027. The South Entrance will also remain closed. “We’re adapting the spatial layout to the current market situation and concentrating Ligna where exhibitors and visitors actually come together,” Wagner summarizes.
