Eight leading industrial companies have joined forces to form the Partners for Defence interest group to provide production solutions for the defense industry. These include companies from the surface technology sector.

The recent geopolitical upheavals show that the European Union must reposition itself militarily if the defense capability of the member states is to be ensured in the long term. The strategy cannot be to rely exclusively on armaments companies from third countries and to be dependent on their spare parts supplies and software updates in an emergency. Europe must be able to act independently and avoid dependencies as far as possible. Achieving this goal requires, among other things, massive investment in the corresponding production capacities. And this is precisely where the newly founded interest group Partners for Defense, or P4D for short, comes in. The network of currently eight highly specialized industrial companies, all with proven expertise in their fields, aims to pool their skills in order to provide the defence industry with the best possible support in the form of integrated production solutions.

New network of eight industrial companies

The areas of expertise of the eight partners are ideally suited to this. Plant manufacturer M.A.i stands for intelligent automation systems in high-tech industries, Stäubli Robotics for high-precision industrial robots, Taktomat for excellence in drive technology, Rösler for expertise in surface processing, Schläger M-Tech for plastics technology and mechatronics expertise, Bdtronic for solutions in the fields of dosing, hot riveting and plasma, Senswork for machine vision and AI and Asis for state-of-the-art systems in surface technology. This merger combines experience, technological excellence and innovative strength from all areas relevant to the defense industry. The aim of the partnership is to create synergies, share expertise and jointly develop high-performance solutions. Close cooperation between the members enables projects to be implemented more efficiently, state-of-the-art technologies to be made available and the highest quality standards to be guaranteed. P4D stands for a sense of responsibility, reliability and technological strength and aims to make a sustainable contribution to industrial performance in the security-relevant sector. The interest group will be exhibiting for the first time at the Enforce Tac trade fair, which will take place in Nuremberg from February 23 to 25, 2026.
