Improved temperature and humidity data loggers from Extech for indoor monitoring

Extech's new 42280A Series temperature and humidity data logger offers a number of notable improvements over its successful predecessor. It ensures a higher level of performance and an extended range of functions in indoor air quality monitoring.
This latest generation, highly accurate and reliable meter from Extech, a subsidiary of Teledyne Flir, is of great value to any company looking to monitor such things as air quality in their production area. A direct replacement for the popular 42280 series, the new 42280A features the same three-section, large LCD display with simultaneous Advertisement of temperature, humidity, date and time. In addition, the newly developed model introduces a number of new features with real added value, such as the ability to create PDF reports or Excel spreadsheets by connecting the instrument (via the built-in USB interface) to a Windows PC after data collection. Another important improvement is the increase of the internal memory to 48,000 points or readings (three times more than the previous model) to meet the needs of extended monitoring and higher monitoring frequency. The Extech 42280A also introduced a Max/Min mode and a High/Low (Hi/Lo) on-screen Advertisement. Here, the programmable and selectable data sampling rate provides visual and audible alarms according to the preset high and low limits.
Other features of the new Extech 42280A, which can be adapted to almost any situation, include a marker function that allows the user to read the memory contents from a specific point in time without reprogramming the log. Incidentally, data remains securely stored in the logger at all times and can be password protected if needed. Extech is also launching a new model of the 42280A-NIST instrument variant. This model provides calibration that meets NIST standards for indoor environments where accurate and reliable measurements must be demonstrated. Calibration reports that the user can download to a PC are also helpful for this purpose. Both the 42280A and 42280A-NIST are critical components of any indoor environment monitoring system and measure in the -20 to +70°C temperature range and 0 to 100 percent humidity range. The devices are very compact, measuring 120.7 x 88.9 x 38.1 mm, and weigh only 163 grams. Depending on requirements, the user can choose between wall, table or tripod mounting. Salt bottles for relative humidity calibration are available as optional accessories (with concentrations of 33 % and 75 %).
