Hannover Messe 2025: Digitalization, automation and electrification

The Hannover Messe in April 2024 aims to provide decisive impetus on the future topics of digitalization, automation and electrification. Important decisions need to be made today to ensure the competitiveness of the industry.
Re-industrialization in the USA, export subsidies in China, the transition to a sustainable and digital industry in Europe. The competition between industrial companies and industrial nations is intensifying. Those who make the right decisions now will secure a leading position for the future. "We are at a historic crossroads," says Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG. "In view of the global framework conditions, the industrial balance of power of the future is now being decided." A look at the situation in the automotive industry shows that the overall international situation is forcing not only individual manufacturing companies but entire industrial nations to fundamentally rethink their strategies. Köckler: "Whether in the USA, Asia or Europe - more investment is needed in the digitalization, automation and electrification of the industry. This is the only way to reconcile competitiveness and sustainability."
Solutions for the production and energy supply of the future
Under the motto "Industrial Transformation - Energizing a Sustainable Industry", around 5,000 companies from the mechanical engineering, electrical and digital industries as well as the energy sector will be showcasing solutions for the production and energy supply of the future. Artificial intelligence will play a central role in this. Köckler: "Artificial intelligence will revolutionize the entire value chain of manufacturing companies and thus significantly increase their competitiveness." The exhibiting companies include global tech companies such as Bosch, Google, Microsoft, Schneider Electric and Siemens as well as medium-sized technology leaders such as Beckhoff, Festo, Harting, ifm, LAPP, Phoenix Contact, Rittal, Schaeffler and SEW. Renowned research institutes such as Fraunhofer or the KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) outline the industrial solutions of tomorrow and more than 300 start-ups from various fields of technology showcase innovations with disruptive potential. From the digitalization of complex production processes and the use of hydrogen to operate entire production plants to the use of AI to optimize production processes, Hannover Messe presents a holistic picture of the technological possibilities for the industry of today and tomorrow. The focus will be on the interplay between robotics, artificial intelligence, drive technologies, sovereign data spaces (Manufacturing X), renewable energies, hydrogen and many other technologies such as the industrial metaverse.
Hannover Messe appeals to decision-makers
"The unique thing about Hannover Messe is that we address decision-makers at every level," says Dr. Jochen Köckler. "Whether production managers are looking for a new robotics solution to automate their plant or a managing director wants to pave the way to the digital future for the entire company - they will find their contacts at Hannover Messe. It's about both selective solutions and the comprehensive transformation of entire companies - and it's always about competitiveness." Köckler goes on to emphasize: "Competitiveness also depends on the political framework". This is precisely where he sees another strength of Hannover Messe: "It has always been the link between business and politics." It's not just about exchanging ideas - in Hannover, politicians can experience first-hand how technologies ensure greater efficiency, sustainability, competitiveness and prosperity. And not just at German or European level, but globally, for example with the partner country Canada.
