GV-Lacke Grönenbacher Lackfabrik celebrates its anniversary

Grönenbacher Lackfabrik Gropper + Viandt GmbH, also known as GV-Lacke, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. The company produces industrial coatings for the agricultural machinery, commercial vehicle, automotive and general mechanical and plant engineering sectors, among others.
GV-Lacke began in 1975 with a 500 square metre hall, two founders and two employees in the Bad Grönenbach-Thal industrial estate and is now a medium-sized family business with 100 employees and an annual production of more than 5,000 tons of industrial coatings. Under the management of Gerd Gropper and Christian Viandt, the success story is now being continued by the second generation. The anniversary was celebrated together with the entire workforce in Memmingen's e-con-Park. The path to today's company was not straightforward. Founders Theo Viandt and Heiner Gropper initially held management positions at other paint manufacturers before acquiring a stake in Dinkelsbühl in 1973. Two years later, the site in Bad Grönenbach was established, followed in 1983 by the separation from the former partner Haas and the renaming to today's GmbH. For the second generation, this was the final go-ahead to develop the company independently.
GV-Lacke on a solid footing in its anniversary year
The introduction of the VOC regulation at the end of the 1990s brought a significant growth spurt. By this time, GV-Lacke had already developed a high-solids system that met the requirements for low-solvent coatings. The technological advantage made it possible to acquire new customers and invest in personnel and production. Today, in addition to the commercial vehicle, machinery and container construction sectors, the company primarily supplies the agricultural and construction machinery industry, which accounts for around a third of its turnover. The loyalty of the employees is a key success factor. Numerous long-serving employees have shaped the company over decades, ensuring continuity in development, production and sales. With a recent annual turnover of around 30 million euros, GV-Lacke considers itself to be in a solid position. The company will continue to focus on innovation in the future. The recently launched HS 365 energy-saving paint is a development that significantly reduces the energy required for drying. The next milestone is the SmartCure system, which enables rapid drying at room temperature and could fundamentally change the painting process. GV-Lacke is thus continuing its technological pioneering role, which has already brought the company several growth spurts.
