Fronius wins gold in EcoVadis sustainability rating

The international rating agency EcoVadis has evaluated 100,000 companies in over 175 countries and from more than 200 sectors to date. The four areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement are closely scrutinized every year. The Upper Austrian family business Fronius was once again able to improve on last year's rating and this year won gold for the first time. This puts Fronius in the top 5 percent of the most sustainable companies in the industry. "We live sustainability, you can feel it every day in our actions and our joint commitment. Every contribution, no matter how small it may seem, lays a crucial foundation - for future generations and a future we want to be proud of. The EcoVadis award is both a big step in the right direction and a positive incentive for us. We want to become even better, so the journey continues," says Katrin Helmberger, Head of Corporate Sustainability.

The best example of the future-oriented sustainability strategy: Fronius managed to phase out gas at the beginning of the year and has since been operating all production sites in Austria without fossil fuels. By investing in the gas phase-out, the company has been able to save more than 2.9 GWh of natural gas compared to the previous year at the Sattledt, Thalheim, Pettenbach and Steinhaus sites alone. This corresponds to the gas consumption of around 73 single-family homes or 773 tons of CO2 equivalent. In addition, the photovoltaic systems installed on the roofs already have an output of 4 MWp and the electricity purchased is 100% certified green electricity.
