Dürr and BBS Automation inaugurate joint training center

Dürr Systems and BBS Automation have inaugurated a joint training center for the neighboring Bietigheim and Freiberg sites. Here, trainees from the Dürr Group can get to know two companies at the same time.
If you want to meet your long-term demand for qualified employees, you need to train more of your own junior staff. Dürr Systems and BBS Automation (formerly teamtechnik) are setting a good example here: with the joint training center for the neighboring Bietigheim and Freiberg sites, the two subsidiaries of the Dürr Group are creating optimal conditions to support young people on their way into professional life and thus meet the demand for skilled workers. "As a company with a long tradition, Dürr has always attached great importance to training," said Group CEO Dr. Jochen Weyrauch at the official opening. He described the approximately 1,000 square meter training center as "an important investment in both the Bietigheim and Freiberg sites as well as in Germany as a business location, to which we are committed". Since the beginning of this year, Dürr Systems and BBS Automation have modernized the machinery and training infrastructure. The trainees now have more opportunities to work with modern technologies such as 3D printing. The training team, headed by Uwe Klaiber and Marcel Rütten, and the trainees themselves have been actively involved in the planning from the outset. The joint training center was completed at the start of the training year on September 1, right on schedule.
Training center for two Dürr Group companies
Currently, 127 young people are preparing for their careers here. They benefit from uniform training standards and the opportunity to work together in an even larger team. This is because they gain diverse insights into two companies at the same time: At BBS Automation in Freiberg, they learn about special machine construction. Here, customer-specific automation solutions are manufactured, for example for the assembly of electric drives, solar modules and infusion sets. At Dürr in Bietigheim, the trainees are familiarized with the series production of painting robots. Dürr Systems and BBS Automation currently employ 74 apprentices and 53 dual students. Both companies offer 9 training courses ranging from IT and industrial mechanics to warehouse logistics. In addition, there are 12 dual study programs to choose from, such as automation technology, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering. The Dürr Group is currently training a total of 525 young people in Germany.
