Bruker Alicona merges its corporate structure: As of October 1, 2025, the previously independent companies Alicona Imaging and Bruker Austria have merged into one legal entity. The headquarters of the merged company will remain in Raaba near Graz.

Founded as a university spin-off in Graz, Austria, the company started in the early 2000s with a clear
vision: to develop a robust, optical alternative to tactile profilometry. This gave rise to the Focus-Variation - a unique optical measurement technology at the time that combined roughness and form measurement in a single system. Over the years, Bruker Alicona developed from a small, research-driven start-up into a global market leader for optical 3D measurement technology in production environments. In 2018, the company joined the Bruker Group as part of a strategic expansion of the Bruker Industrial Metrology Division. This integration enabled Bruker Alicona to scale its technologies globally while continuing to innovate from its development center in Raaba/Graz.

Bruker merger with commitment to Austria as a location

The merger also underlines Bruker's long-term commitment to Austria as a central location within its global structure. By merging all Austrian business activities under one legal entity and relocating the headquarters of Bruker Austria GmbH to Raaba/Graz, the company is emphasizing the strategic importance of the location and its employees. The Bruker Austria team, previously based in Vienna, will become part of the Raaba-based organization, a move that not only strengthens the local presence but also the role of production metrology in the Bruker portfolio. As the company emphasizes, this change is of a purely legal nature - the Bruker Alicona brand will remain unchanged. "This development is a strong signal - not only for our employees, but also for our customers and partners worldwide," says Urban Muraus, General Manager at Bruker Alicona. "Becoming the headquarters of Bruker Austria underlines the exceptional work of our team and shows how essential measurement technology has become in modern production environments."
