The Beckers Group has opened a new resin plant in Nagpur, India. The facility will produce polyester resins using renewable and recycled raw materials and is intended to strengthen the development of sustainable coating technologies and support the Indian market.

The Beckers Group, together with its joint venture Berger-Becker Coatings, has opened a new resin plant in Nagpur, India. The facility is part of the company’s long-term strategy to expand production capacity, make supply chains more resilient, and advance more sustainable coating technologies. Commercial production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026. The initial plan is for an annual capacity of approximately 9,000 metric tons of polyester resins, which can be further expanded in the future. The plant is equipped with automated production lines as well as state-of-the-art safety and environmental systems. India is one of Becker’s most important growth markets. In particular, rising demand from the construction, home appliances, and infrastructure sectors is increasing the need for high-performance resins for tape coatings.

Resin Production for More Sustainable Coatings

Resins play a key role in determining the performance of tape coatings and influence their corrosion protection, weather resistance, and service life. With the new facility, Beckers is taking full control of the production of this key raw material in-house. The plant produces polyester resins containing renewable and recycled raw materials, including recycled PET, wet IPA, and other alternative feedstocks. This is intended to use resources more efficiently and reduce the carbon footprint compared to conventional petrochemical resins. At the start of production, the proportion of renewable raw materials will be between five and ten percent. According to the company, the plant strengthens both the independence of the supply chain and the development of new resin technologies for the Indian market, while supporting the transition to circular coating solutions.
