Altana Receives Gold Medal in EcoVadis Sustainability Rating
In the latest sustainability rating from the EcoVadis assessment platform, Altana achieved its best result to date with a score of 85 out of 100. Compared to last year’s already very strong result, the specialty chemicals group improved its score by another point.
Based on the currently valid EcoVadis assessment criteria, Altana was awarded the Gold Medal this year. The improvement in the overall rating reflects the consistent expansion of sustainability performance across all areas of the company. With this result, Altana—including its business units BYK, Eckart, Elantas, and Actega—ranks among the top 5 percent of all companies evaluated worldwide across all industries. “We are very pleased with this result,” says Dr. Tammo Boinowitz, member of the Executive Board of Altana AG. “The further increase in our score confirms that sustainability is firmly anchored in our business practices and is having an increasing impact.”
EcoVadis Rating Confirms Company’s Course
According to the company, the latest assessment once again confirms its strategy of combining sustainable and profitable growth. Altana is convinced that long-term economic success is only possible if environmental and social responsibility are given equal consideration. For example, these solutions enable the recycling of packaging, make battery production more efficient, and help ensure that the world’s largest wind turbines can generate green electricity for decades to come. External assessments by organizations such as EcoVadis provide transparency for customers, business partners, and employees. At the same time, they offer important insights for the continuous advancement of sustainability initiatives. EcoVadis evaluates companies across four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its methodology is based on internationally recognized standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the principles of the UN Global Compact, and the ISO 26000 standard.
