The color experts at AkzoNobel's Global Aesthetic Center have selected the Color of the Year 2024. The pastel pink shade "Sweet Embrace" is inspired by soft feathers and evening clouds and is the result of a comprehensive trend analysis.

AkzoNobel's new Color of the Year reflects the results of a comprehensive study of global social, design and consumer trends for 2024. In-house color experts for paints and coatings and international design experts identified three trends that will impact our lives in the coming year: We are searching for belonging in an uncertain world; we need places that give us a sense of calm; and we look for moments of joy in everyday experiences. "We live in a society that is changing, and we are rethinking how we interact with the world," says Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of AkzoNobel's Global Aesthetic Center. "For our own homes, that means creating our own 'special place' that roots us in our individual memories and relationships. Our Color of the Year, Sweet Embrace, and three color palettes based on this hue can help us achieve this. They allow us to personalize our surroundings to fit the times we live in, bringing a sense of stability and moments of joy to our spaces."

As part of ColourFutures' 2024 Color Trend Report, AkzoNobel has developed three palettes around Sweet Embrace to help consumers choose trendy and harmonious wall colors that reflect their unique personalities. The warm palette is reminiscent of home, a place where one feels comfortable and safe, and combines shades of stone, earth and clay. The calm color palette evokes nature and the essence of life, combining the soft greens and blues of the forest and the sea. The on-trend colors, textures and special effects were developed for the aviation, automotive, consumer electronics, metal furniture, lighting, cabinetry, flooring, building products and architecture markets, in addition to the architectural paint market. "Color of the Year often inspires long-term design partnerships across our businesses," says Jan Piet van Kesteren, director EMEA for architectural paints at AkzoNobel. "We combine consumer trend insights with in-depth color and material research and market analysis in our ColorSurfaces trend collection to provide our customers with market-specific solutions and work with them to create the perfect surface for their projects."
