AkzoNobel and Axalta Will Become Axanzo Following the Merger

AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems have announced that the name of their combined company following the completion of their planned merger will be Axanzo. The merger, announced in November 2025, is intended to create a leading global provider of paints and coatings with the size, strength, and reach to drive sustainable growth and innovation. The future ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam will be AXZ. “Axanzo signals a bold new beginning for a company that will be stronger in every way,” explains AkzoNobel CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume, who is also set to become CEO of the new company. Chris Villavarayan, CEO of Axalta and future deputy CEO, adds: “Axanzo will continually redefine the standards for what coatings can achieve.”

Merger of AkzoNobel and Axalta Creates Global Coatings Group

The new name deliberately draws on the traditions of both companies and is intended to lead their history into a new era for the coatings industry. The combined company will bring together a broadly diversified and balanced portfolio of approximately 100 established brands of paints and coatings in more than 160 countries. “By combining our expertise, the best of each of us becomes the standard for all of us,” said Poux-Guillaume. Until the transaction is completed—which is expected in early 2027, following the granting of all regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of customary closing conditions—AkzoNobel and Axalta will continue to operate as independent companies. For customers and partners, the announcement of the new name will not result in any immediate changes.
