Last Thursday, a local fire with heavy smoke development occurred in the building of the test and service center on the company premises of LPW Reinigungssysteme GmbH in Riederich. No one was injured, and operations at LPW can continue as usual.

On the morning of January 12, 2023, an LPW employee noticed heavy smoke developing in the water treatment area of the LPW Test and Service Center (TDZ). He immediately notified the fire department, which together with the rescue service was on site within a few minutes and was able to quickly extinguish the fire. At the time of the fire, there were no persons in the affected part of the building. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. The cause was probably a technical defect in a water treatment system. The extent of the damage to property is currently still being clarified. The clean-up and repair work by specialist companies is already in full swing. LPW Managing Director Gerhard Koblenzer: "We are glad that no one was injured and grateful for the quick reaction of our colleague and the rapid arrival of the emergency services. Of course, an incident like this has an impact on the company's processes in the short term. But thanks to our flexible organizational structure, we are also well prepared for such events and are currently drawing on our existing action plans for this purpose."

In plain language, this means that LPW's business activities - i.e. production, service, sales, research & development, etc. - will continue without restriction. Only the area of contract cleaning will be affected in the short term and therefore relocated to other locations on the LPW premises as well as externally with immediate effect. Furthermore, all technical systems are currently being checked for possible impairments. The test activities as well as the contract cleaning can already take place again this week in parts. Gerhard Koblenzer: "For example, we have our partner SGA in Geisingen at our side, which we supported in 2020 in setting up a cleanroom service center comparable to the TDZ." There, until further notice, various activities of the TDZ will be continued by the LPW team. In addition to an LPW final cleaning system and the associated ultrapure water media supply, SGA can come up with the necessary cleanroom and logistics areas.
