B&R Automation is relocating its German headquarters from Bad Homburg to Friedberg, the location of ABB's Robotics division. The joint location enables closer cooperation and a stronger transfer of knowledge between the two ABB divisions.

B&R Industrie-Elektronik GmbH has moved its German headquarters from Bad Homburg to Friedberg in Hesse, where ABB's Robotics division is based in Germany. This means that both divisions, which together form ABB's Robotics and Factory Automation business unit, are now under one roof. By joining forces, the two divisions aim to create stronger synergies in the future and leverage joint potential in order to further advance flexible automation for customers in a wide range of industries. "Even though Friedberg and Bad Homburg are not far away from each other, the idea of bundling all our activities at one location was an obvious one. The necessary capacities were available in Friedberg, and I am very happy to have our colleagues from B&R Automation with us now," emphasizes Jörg Rommelfanger, Head of ABB's Robotics Division in Germany. "We are the only company to offer a complete automation portfolio including robots, autonomous mobile robots and intelligent machines that are coordinated with the help of our powerful software. With the spatial merger, our customers will now receive all of this from one location."

With the relocation of B&R Automation, around 650 employees are working on the transformation of robotics and automation at the ABB site in Friedberg. "Together, we are putting our knowledge into the continuous expansion of our product portfolio for all segments so that our customers can use flexible automation to take their business to a new level," adds Markus Sandhöfner, Managing Director of B&R Industrie-Elektronik GmbH. "I am very much looking forward to working even more closely with my Robotics colleagues. I am certain that this move will benefit our employees, partners and customers alike." Together, the two divisions want to bring their innovations in robotics, machine automation, software and service to life for visitors and customers. The current technology center in Friedberg is being redesigned for this purpose. Once completed, current developments, visionary future concepts and industry-specific solutions from the divisions will be on display on around 1,000 square meters, including: collaborative applications with ABB's GoFaTM and SWIFTITM cobots, scalable and flexible robot cells for manufacturing and logistics as well as innovations in adaptive manufacturing.
