ZVO Surface Days 2022: Successful new edition as face-to-face event

After a two-year break from Corona, the ZVO Surface Days took place again in September as a purely attendance-based event in Leipzig. Current topics and trends such as sustainability, energy and resource efficiency or climate neutrality again characterized the well-attended conference with over 500 participants and 65 exhibitors.
This year's ZVO Surface Technology Days from September 14 - 16, 2022 kicked off with an evening event in the stylish Leipzig Congress Hall at the Zoo. After the welcoming address by the chairman of the Zentralverband Oberflächentechnik e.V. (ZVO), Walter Zeschky, the head of the Institute for Functional Materials at the University of Saarbrücken, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Mücklich, gave an inspiring talk on recyclable materials, thus hitting a current thematic focus also of the surface technology industry. The two following days of the event at the Congress Center Leipzig on the Leipzig Exhibition Grounds were also dominated by topics that are currently moving the industry strongly: "Climate Neutrality & Energy and Resource Efficiency" and "The Significance of Electroplating for Sustainable Energy Generation and Storage" were two of the thematic blocks for the approximately 90 contributions in the four- to five-session parallel lecture program of the Surface Engineering Days.
The concurrent exhibition with 65 booths of companies from the surface technology industry was fully booked and the event was very well attended with more than 500 conference participants. Many expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity for direct exchange that was once again available after the long Corona break. Pleased about the course of the event was also ZVO Managing Director Christoph Matheis: "We have experienced an overwhelming feedback to this year's ZVO Surface Days in Leipzig. Both the venue - the Congress Hall at the Zoo for the opening ceremony and the Congress Center Leipzig for the lecture program and industrial exhibition - and the selection of topics and quality of the lectures were praised. Our 65 exhibitors were also more than too satisfied and reported many good discussions at the stands. Although we couldn't quite match pre-Corona times with 515 attendees, #OTLeipzig22 exceeded expectations. Perhaps the most well-rounded event we've had so far overall?"
