The Bürkert solenoid valves with double coil and kick and drop electronics consume up to 80 percent less energy than conventional solutions. They are particularly suitable for continuously open valves, such as gas or tap water safety valves, as well as battery-buffered drain systems.

In fluidics, energy efficiency in particular is driving development alongside digitization and networking. One example is valves with electromagnetic actuators, which are often used to switch fluids automatically. To ensure that the coils of the solenoids develop high attraction forces and still require little energy, they are usually controlled via electronics. The fluidics specialist Bürkert Fluid Control Systems has energy-saving solutions with double coils and so-called kick and drop electronics in its solenoid valve range. The valves consume up to 80 percent less energy than conventional solutions. The coil is initially overexcited by a high voltage pulse to generate the high attraction force needed to open the valve. After a few milliseconds, the electronics integrated in the pressed coil switch to energy-saving holding operation. The technology is particularly suitable for continuously opened valves, such as gas or tap water safety valves, as well as for battery-buffered drain systems.

Due to the low power consumption, the maximum self-heating of the valve is also lower, which reduces deposits and calcification and significantly increases the service life. In addition, the valves impress with their silent operation and meet high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. The solenoid valves with the kick and drop coil system help to noticeably reduce operating costs thanks to their energy-saving function, extended maintenance intervals and longer service life.
