The SKZ Plastics Center is organizing the course "Coating of plastics" from 16 to 17 April 2024 in Würzburg. The basic seminar provides an overview of the entire process of coating plastics and deals with the most important success factors in various contributions.

Plastic components - especially visible parts - are often coated. In addition to defined visual and haptic properties, this also brings functional benefits such as improved media resistance. A number of factors need to be kept in mind to ensure that the coating is successful and meets the quality requirements. Influencing factors such as the injection molding process as the upstream processing technology or the surface properties of the component to be painted have a massive impact on the result. The type of paint and the selected coating process also play a role. For this reason, the SKZ, together with its subsidiary EZD (European Center for Dispersion Technologies), is organizing a two-day intensive course in April 2024 that covers everything to do with the coating of plastics.

Process optimization and surface analysis will be covered, as well as damage analysis and painting systems. External experts from the automotive sector or raw material manufacturers round off the seminar. There will also be suitable input from the SKZ site in Selb, which deals intensively with dispersion and suspensions. "We are delighted to be able to pass on our practical knowledge during the course. Thanks to our expertise in coating formulation and in the wet and powder coating of plastic components, we have excellent knowledge along the entire process chain," says Dr. Felipe Wolff-Fabris, course instructor and head of the EZD in Selb. A visit to the Würzburg Ratskeller at the end of the first day of the event also provides a good opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas.
