Richard Geiss invests in flood protection

Richard Geiss GmbH invested heavily in flood protection following the flood disaster last summer. One of the new features is a specially manufactured flood protection trailer costing around 100,000 euros.
In addition to the new flood protection trailer, Richard Geiss GmbH from Offingen will be investing in a 100 square meter equipment shed on its company premises as part of its flood protection measures. However, the solvent specialist is not only improving its own flood protection, but also that of the region: the company has donated a total of 60,000 euros to regional fire departments. "We are located directly on the Mindel river and if we hadn't had a powerful large pump from the Kempten fire department on our site last summer, we would probably have been completely flooded. It was immediately clear to me that we would have to be even better equipped here in future," explains Bastian Geiss, Managing Partner of Richard Geiss GmbH. So not only was a comprehensive flood protection concept commissioned, but also a special flood protection trailer.
Flood protection trailer and equipment shed protect Geiss
The new flood protection trailer from Richard Geiss GmbH is mobile, powerful and energy self-sufficient. The trailer is equipped with six high-performance pumps with a total output of 8,600 liters per minute. "That corresponds to the pumping capacity of three to four fire department units," emphasizes Bastian Geiss. Two emergency generators secure the power supply for the six pumps - even if the regular power supply fails, which is often the case in flood situations. The equipment is supplemented by LED lighting systems and accessories for immediate use. Richard Geiss GmbH's flood protection concept also includes the construction of its own equipment shed at the Offingen site. Covering a total of around 100 square meters, this will provide space for the new flood protection trailer and the existing extinguishing trailer. Richard Geiss GmbH is also making its specially configured and powerful flood protection trailer available to regional fire departments. In the event of an emergency, they can easily and officially call up the trailer via the control center. "The fact that we survived the floods last summer relatively unscathed is primarily thanks to the regional fire departments. They worked day and night to achieve truly unimaginable things and ensured that our company did not literally go down the drain," says Bastian Geiss.
