Pfeiffer Vacuum, one of the world's leading suppliers of vacuum technology, held a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art industrial complex on Berliner Strasse in Asslar on February 16, 2023. The site expansion with the name "Future Factory Asslar" is being built on the Pfeiffer Vacuum company premises.

The site expansion at Pfeiffer Vacuum is intended to significantly increase production and logistics capacities. The centerpiece is the 8,000 square meter logistics center with an integrated, fully automated warehouse. In addition, more than 1,000 square meters of additional production space will be created, as well as a service environment in which all service areas will collaborate centrally. The logistics center is scheduled for completion in 2024. In parallel, part of the existing building will be modernized.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Ayla Busch, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG, and the Management Board team consisting of Dr. Britta Giesen and Wolfgang Ehrk welcomed District Administrator Wolfgang Schuster and Asslar Mayor Christian Schwarz. The company is relying on photovoltaic systems throughout the building project; the electricity generated is to be fed entirely into the company's own grid. The heat generated by the production facilities will also be recovered. E-charging columns for employees' vehicles are also being planned. The aim is for the site to be climate-neutral by 2030.
