Giga Coating: self-sufficient power supply for climate-neutral coating

The companies Giga Coating and System Trailers rely on an innovative energy system consisting of photovoltaics, battery storage and AI control. This allows them to reduce peak loads, cut electricity costs and create the basis for climate-neutral coating in surface technology.
With a combination of photovoltaics, battery storage and intelligent control, Giga Coating GmbH and System Trailers Fahrzeugbau GmbH in Twist (Emsland) have secured a largely self-sufficient power supply. The new battery storage system from Stabl Energy complements the PV systems already installed and makes it possible to significantly increase self-consumption, reduce peak loads and benefit from dynamic electricity tariffs. Since 2022, Greenflash has installed photovoltaic systems with a capacity of more than 2 MWp on the roofs of the companies' buildings. They are controlled by the GreenX1 controller, which distributes the solar power according to demand. While surplus energy was previously mainly fed into the grid, the storage solution installed in June 2025 enables targeted intermediate storage and use. This cuts costs and reduces dependence on external energy sources.
Solar power and battery storage make Giga Coating and System Trailers energy self-sufficient
In the first expansion phase, a battery storage system with 288 second-chance battery modules, which were originally intended for electric vehicles, will be used. Thanks to Stabl's multilevel inverter technology, they are now being given a second life. With a storage capacity of 1,233 kWh and an output of 405 kW, the system makes a significant contribution to stabilizing the power supply. "By adding a powerful storage system to our PV systems, we can significantly increase our share of self-generated electricity and at the same time cushion the constantly rising costs of voltage peaks," emphasizes Managing Director Ralf Saatkamp. For him, the deep integration of renewable energies is a key to economic efficiency and sustainability. Partner companies also see this as a pioneering model: "The combination of PV, battery storage and intelligent control shows how energy-intensive companies can produce in a more climate-neutral way," says Dr. Nam Truong, CEO of Stabl Energy. Greenflash project manager Lennart Oklitz emphasizes the flexibility of the system: "Our AI-based control system opens up maximum possibilities for the use of energy."
