Dürr China's four-day Open House 2024 customer event focused on various topics that showcased advances in automotive painting and final assembly as well as innovations in painting, bonding and environmental technology for various industries.

More than 700 customers, partners and media representatives from China, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Japan attended the Dürr China Open House 2024. Under this year's motto "Feel the Innovative Spirit of the Future", they gained deeper insights into Dürr's technologies and innovations through various presentations, vivid demonstrations and personal exchanges. Dürr China, a company with nearly 1,200 employees, has completed over 100 turnkey vehicle painting and final assembly projects in China by the end of 2023, underlining its commitment to the local economy. With its 'local for local' approach, Dürr ensures that projects for the country are planned and executed locally and with local contacts. The Dürr subsidiary has made considerable investments and generated CNY 3.3 billion.

Insights into the paint shop of the future

On November 12 and 13, 2024, the "Paint shop of the future" concept was presented, highlighting Dürr's innovative technical solutions and its strong commitment to sustainability. The "Paint shop of the future" breaks with traditional line layouts by dividing industrial automotive painting into boxes or short process sections. This includes the integration of the EcoProBooth, which enables both interior and exterior painting of vehicle bodies in the same booth, the central high-bay warehouse, the EcoProFleet driverless transport system and Dürr's intelligent DXQ software product family, creating a flexible and scalable plant layout. This represents significant progress in the adaptation and personalization of painting processes. The EcoPaintJet Pro, which enables the fully automatic painting of cars in two colors without overspray, also contributes to this. With the EcoBell4 rotary atomizer, colour change is a matter of seconds, with the lowest possible loss of paint and rinsing agent. This means faster cycle times, higher capacities and lower VOC emissions. Live demonstrations allowed participants at the event to experience these innovative products first-hand.

The future of final assembly: Next.assembly

On November 14, the focus shifted to the topic of final assembly with the "Next.assembly of the future" concept. Dürr presented its customer-specific, turnkey solutions for final automotive assembly, which are aligned with its future-oriented vision. Next.assembly of the future" is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, the system is designed to meet the requirements of each OEM. The concept breaks away from the traditional layout used in the automotive industry and introduces a modular concept. With five innovations, including the ProLiner, Dürr's innovative AGC (Automated Guided Carrier) and the x-combined all-in-one test bench, the company offers a flexible, modular and scalable layout that is independent of specific building requirements. Through live demonstrations, Dürr offered an insight into innovative solutions for the challenges of final assembly.

Endless possibilities for industrial painting and bonding

Dürr's painting technology is not only used in the automotive industry, but also in other industrial sectors. On the last day of the Open House, the focus was on industrial painting and gluing technologies, with the Ready2integrate concept and the new EcoSupply P Core paint supply system taking center stage. These products bring even more flexibility and high efficiency to automated painting solutions in industry. In the area of gluing technology, Dürr presented its Skyroof gluing technology and material supply systems, which ensure high-precision and uniform application with strict control of material consumption. These innovations were very well received by the participants.

A clear commitment to environmentally friendly production

The last day also offered insights into Dürr's environmental technology. This included exhaust air purification systems, emission-reducing and energy-saving solutions. Dürr's environmentally friendly products have been established in China since the late 1990s, providing thousands of customized air purification systems for industries such as automotive, printing, chemical, pharmaceutical and carbon fiber. New products such as Oxi.X RV (electric RTO) and Oxi.X TR (TAR) have attracted considerable interest. Oxi.X RV uses advanced flameless technology for efficient exhaust gas purification and supports CO2-neutral industrial production.
