Convergent at Automatica 2023: Paint repair with robots

At Automatica 2023, Convergent IT will present the fifth generation of paint repair with Automappp's planning software. Machine learning and new planning methods further increase performance, quality and the amount of surface that can be repaired.
As a pioneer in the repair of car body surfaces, Convergent-IT (CIT) will show the fifth generation of paint repair at Automatica 2023 (Hall B5, Booth 305). Automappps software has been proven for years in the repair of defects in paint, KTL and other surfaces. These are automatically detected on any car body or component with cameras and then repaired, such as sanded or polished, fully automatically planned by robots force-controlled and autonomous. Leading equipment builders and tooling manufacturers license the automatic planning software, as the invisible heart of the reactive robot cells they build internationally. CIT also brings over a decade of its own experience in automated inspection, pretreatment and repair of surface defects with robots to this team - learning from and with the equipment builders, automakers and toolmakers with each new installation. This is supported by various sensors, tools and robot manufacturers. This wealth of experience from all the robot cells in use with tens of licensed robots and cobots in the repair of plastic add-on parts and entire car bodies has been incorporated into the next, 5th generation of the software, which will be presented in Munich from June 26 - 30.
To this end, the reactive, fully automated planning of surface repairs has been radically enhanced according to customer requirements and practical experience to meet key requirements even better. In the future, robots will be able to repair the surface even more completely, e.g. on even more complex edges and special spots. The defects processed per time will be increased by machine learning and new planning methods. Machine learning methods used for the first time in this environment will allow the robots to repair car bodies or components with superior result quality. Simplified feedback allows the Automappps software to learn faster and more robustly to better repair the defects and improve its own performance. The experience-driven enhancements to the associated software environment for designing, simulating and optimizing equipment and processes are aimed at making the entire application even faster, simpler, cheaper and safer to operate than was previously possible. The environment can be operated by Convergent-IT, the plant engineers and especially by the employees of the vehicle manufacturers. New bodies or components can be integrated and optimized more easily and quickly by the operator. Adaptations to coatings, media and tools will be faster.
