There will be personnel changes at the office of the German Research Association for Surface Treatment (DFO) in 2024, as the President of DFO e.V., Jens Rautengarten, announces in a greeting for the New Year.

In his welcome address, DFO President Jens Rautengarten reported on the association's plans to gradually hand over management to younger hands from 2023. However, the restructuring could not be realized as planned and this also resulted in the departure of employees. In addition, the Managing Director of DFO, Ernst-Hermann Timmermann, was absent for several weeks due to illness, meaning that during this time, members of the DFO Board and Advisory Board took care of day-to-day business via a task force. As Rautengarten reports, 2023 was therefore a turbulent and turbulent year for the DFO.

Since the end of October 2023, DFO has been in the process of recruiting new employees. At the beginning of December 2023, M. Eng. Lea Drückes joined the DFO as a new technical employee. Drückes is a graduate of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, where she studied paint chemistry and successfully completed her master's degree at a manufacturer of pre-treatment chemicals. At the beginning of 2024, another employee will start work at DFO and, as assistant to the Executive Board, will continue to advance the work of DFO and possibly succeed Managing Director Timmermann in 2026.
