25 years of GSI - Society for Welding Technology International

Dr.-Ing. Jörg Vogelsang, Managing Director of GSI, gave the welcoming address at the ceremony: "You, dear colleagues, are the face and the guarantee of success of this company. That is why you are the guests of honor at this event, whom I would like to welcome first. It is a great honor to be able to work with you." He emphasized the gratitude for the good, long-standing cooperation and the anticipation for the future. GSI - Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH was founded in 1999 by DVS - Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e.V. (German Welding Society). It is an association of efficient welding training and testing institutes (SLVs) with over 90 years of experience in joining and testing technology. The GSI is a non-profit limited company that works neutrally for individuals, craft businesses, industrial companies, authorities and research bodies. The aim of the GSI is joint training and consulting as well as technology transfer at home and abroad. It has 8 national and 4 international locations. GSI is active in over 50 countries. More than 400 employees work here, including 150 engineers. The head office is in Duisburg. The number of affiliated welding training and testing institutes (SLV) has risen to eight branches, the SLV Berlin-Brandenburg, Duisburg, Fellbach, Hanover, Munich, Saarbrücken, the Rhein-Ruhr and Wilhelmshaven training centers and the Bielefeld welding training center. In addition to the branch offices, GSI cooperates in Germany with SLV Halle GmbH, SLV Mannheim GmbH, SLV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH and TC Kleben GmbH as well as ifw Jena.

Abroad, GSI ensures a consistently high level of training in the following foreign companies: GSI SLV Kunshan in China, GSI SLV-TR in Turkey, SLV-GSI Polska Sp. z o.o. in Poland and SVV Praha in the Czech Republic. The individual training and further education of specialists in all welding processes at home and abroad in German, English and other languages is one of the elementary tasks. All training is carried out in accordance with nationally and internationally harmonized guidelines, which can lead to recognition of qualifications in more than 50 countries. In addition, all necessary certifications of welding supervisors are offered. The training measures include both practical training and certified employment promotion measures. E-learning and individual further training are part of GSI's portfolio. The diverse range of services includes consulting and expert opinions, simulation, material acceptance tests, material testing and process engineering. As a recognized testing, monitoring and certification body in accordance with state building regulations, manufacturers and products are tested and companies and products are certified. In the field of research and development, GSI works in an application and customer-oriented manner. In publicly funded research and industrial research, a close partnership with potential users is sought. In association with the DVS - Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e.V. (German Welding Society), the GSI is actively involved in association work and promotes membership recruitment.
