Steel Matt surface material from Pfleiderer wins Red Dot Award
The new Steel Matt metal structure from Pfleiderer looks like brushed stainless steel. The surface material for finishing furniture and interior fittings is impressive both visually and haptically - and has now been included in the circle of products honored with the Red Dot Award 2023.
"In search of good design" - this is the mission of the Red Dot Design Awards, which is now one of the largest design competitions in the world. With Steel Matt, the jury has once again found what it was looking for. Steel Matt was honored in the Product Design - Materials and Surfaces category. "Steel Matt lends an elegant look to a variety of colored panels, allowing great scope for room planning. The finish is very high quality and the matte sheen is appealing," said the jury's statement, which also emphasized that Steel Matt is visually and haptically comparable to a stainless steel alloy, but does not have its processing-related disadvantages.
"We are very pleased with the award," says Christiane Gebert, who as Head of Design & Development is responsible for surface innovation. "We offer our customers a wide range of materials that are sophisticated in terms of design and function. With Steel Matt, we combine two trends: metallic decors and matte surfaces. A structure development is always elaborate and challenging, especially if we want to live up to our claim of consistency across different products. The fact that the result is not only successful with us and our customers, but is also recognized by the jury of the Red Dot Award, once again confirms our work." Steel Matt looks very authentic with its brushed structure. Filigree and very matte, the fine, sharp-edged polish is irregularly interrupted, the fillets very narrow and steeply laid out. The legs and visible edges discreetly reflect the light and provide an unobtrusive elegant shimmer. The new composite structure is recommended for vertical applications. Steel Matt is available for a range of metal and plain decors - for example, Alux decors, where it enhances the polish of the pearlescent decors, making them look like polished metal. "Steel Matt is versatile," says Christiane Gebert. "It also enhances plain decors, making it a perfect and now award-winning addition to our collection."
