At PaintExpo 2022, Walther Trowal will present for the first time the Rotamat R 85 for coating mass-produced small parts with the new volume flow control for the coating material.

The Rotamat has long proven itself in the surface finishing of mass-produced small parts made of elastomers, metal or wood. Walther Trowal is now equipping the Rotamat R 85 with a mass flow sensor for the coating material and will be exhibiting it at Paintexpo 2022. It provides exact measurement data for precise control of the volume flow, accurate to the tenth of a gram per minute. In contrast to previous systems, the pressure in the supply air lines to the spray heads is no longer the controlled variable, but rather the flow rate of the coating material: the pressure is controlled as a function of the measurement results of the new sensor so that a constant volume flow results at all times. According to the company, this ensures that the coating process is always carried out with the specified amount of coating and that the desired coating thickness is maintained precisely and reproducibly.

The current volume flow is displayed to operators on the touch panel, which has also been redesigned, and any deviations are noticed immediately. The new control also has the advantage that not only the coating thickness but also the specified duration of the coating process is reliably maintained. Frank Siegel, the sales manager "Coating Technology" at Walther Trowal, sees clear advantages for his customers with the new flow control: "Employees of a pilot customer report that, thanks to the new control, they can immediately detect malfunctions and intervene immediately. For example, they can immediately clean spray nozzles that have become clogged and continue coating."
