Custom-fit coatings for the special requirements of electromobility as well as decorative applications in the interior and exterior of vehicles are the focus of SurTec's trade show appearance at the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) 2022.

As a global specialist in surface technologies, SurTec is a leader in the development of applications to replace chromium(VI) coatings with more environmentally friendly solutions and has OEM approvals in the automotive industry. "When it comes to the surface treatment of structural elements for e-mobility, very different aspects often have to be taken into account than for conventional vehicles," explains Dr. Jens Krömer, Director Global Markets at SurTec. "For example, when coating battery housings, extremely reliable protection against corrosion is of paramount importance, as the batteries of e-vehicles are located in the underbody of the vehicle due to their design and are therefore permanently exposed to a wide variety of environmental influences. SurTec 650, a bright corrosion protection for light metals, is especially suitable for this application, enabling state-of-the-art, lightweight battery housings with a reliable and long service life."

SurTec 650 is considered the benchmark for surface treatment of bare aluminum surfaces and, in combination with a gasket, optimally prevents moisture from penetrating the battery housing. The technology ensures low electrical contact resistance and offers electromagnetic compatibility. SurTec 650 is thus the perfect solution for the surface treatment of, among other things, housings for batteries or for electronic control units (ECU). SurTec will also be presenting its technologies for decorative surfaces in the interior and exterior of vehicles at the IZB (Hall 3, Booth 3127). With SurTec 883 XT, the company has succeeded in developing an alternative to conventional chromium(VI) processes that is equivalent in function and quality and delivers identical color values.
