Evonik receives platinum rating from EcoVadis for sustainability

The rating agency EcoVadis has awarded Evonik a platinum rating for its performance in the area of sustainability. This puts the specialty chemicals company in the top one percent of companies rated by EcoVadis over the past 12 months.
"The platinum award from EcoVadis reflects the quality of our sustainability management system and demonstrates our commitment to transparency along the entire value chain," said Thomas Wessel, Labor Director at Evonik and the member of the Executive Board responsible for sustainability. "Together with our stakeholders, we are continuously driving the topic of sustainability forward." In addition to its own production and business processes, the company also focuses in particular on the supply chain and the benefits of its products in customer applications
The "EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment" looks at companies' sustainability performance in the dimensions of "environment", "labor and human rights", "ethics" and "sustainable procurement". EcoVadis also incorporates information from publicly available sources into the assessment. Evonik is a founding member of the chemical industry's "Together for Sustainability" (TfS) initiative. The members want to increase transparency and sustainability in global supply chains by carrying out standardized assessments and audits of suppliers and using additional training. As a partner of the initiative, EcoVadis evaluates the companies that are members of TfS every year through the Sustainability Assessment.
